Bushtec Logo®

When Honda introduced their new, impressive, and totally redesigned GL1800 Gold Wing, they not only presented those of us in the trailer industry with a challenge for a radically new hitch, they also challenged us with new colors to match. While their blue and black are standard colors and their new yellow is easy enough, the new Illusion Red promised to be not only quickly in demand, but tricky. As with the new hitch, Bushtec was up to the task at hand!

Bushtec has invested heavily in paint technology in the past few years, and the quality and exact color matching of ANY color has become just another reason why Bushtec is Number One. The GL1800 and Bushtec Quantum at the left belongs to Clifford Spencer of Newton, NC.

We believe that the best advertisement we can get comes from our customers. After all, although we put all of our expertise and experience into each and every Bushtec Trailer that rolls off of our assembly line, it's the experience of Bushtec owners that keep them coming back.

Perhaps the best way to describe it is Clifford's own words, from a letter he sent to Bushtec after he picked up his Quantum:

=================================

"Hi John and the crew at Bushtec,

As our 1800's were the first that you installed the new hitch on, Don and I wanted to give you a report on the ride home from Jacksboro (230 miles) on our new GL 1800's pulling our new Quantum trailers. The trailers were almost empty for this trip, however they followed straight and true at speeds up to 80 mph, they followed straight and true at these speeds close behind 18 wheelers traveling at the same speed, they followed straight and true on the rain grooves around Asheville. We are very pleased with the performance of the 1800's and the Quantum trailers. I know that you are very proud of the new hitch and you should be. I am very impressed with the strength designed into this hitch. I was also amazed at the lightness and lack of strength of the subframe that you showed us. I believe that if your competitors attach a hitch to this frame they are asking for trouble.

The air system pump that Lewis Preston (The Electrical Connection) installed in the trailers are great. They worked flawlessly on the road while adjusting the ride height of the trailer. This much improved over the previous system. (I still take credit for giving him this idea)

Also, the 1800 is a very fine performer. This was the first chance Don and I had to put some time in the saddle of our new Gold Wings. The power and handling are outstanding. After spending almost 500 miles in the saddle on one trip, I still like the saddle. This has not been true on previous models. We averaged just over 39 mpg on both bikes, traveling at speeds up to 80 and in temperatures down to 23 degrees. The temperature on Thursday was never over 30 degrees. Of course, we both had heated clothing. At this speed and temperatures, I have never had more than 30 - 32 mpg with the 1500. Also, pulling the trailer did not seem to affect the mpg that much as we averaged 39 mpg in both directions, however the trailer was not loaded.

John and crew, I wanted to let you know that the motorcycle and trailer that we now have is the greatest rig on the road and we are looking forward to putting many miles on them in the future.

Thanks for your hospitality and concern with quality and detail of your products.

Clifford Spencer
